Philanthropy
Sumeet Tappoo is a global philanthropist who has dedicated his life to make a difference to the underprivileged and needy. In addition to being the Director for Sai Prema Foundation Fiji, Sumeet is also the youth coordinator of the global mission of love and service under the leadership of Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai and is involved in humanitarian projects in the field of healthcare, education and nutrition around the world.
Under his leadership, Sai Prema Foundation Fiji has successfully undertaken numerous humanitarian initiatives including the establishment of South Pacific's first state-of-the-art pediatric cardiac super speciality hospital where all surgeries and procedures are given completely free of cost. The Hospital does not have a billing counter.
The project statistics as at 31st December 2022 are as follows :
- 154 free heart surgeries for the children of Fiji
- 24,904 patients served free of cost at the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Medical Centre
- 3,965,701 meals served to needy families through the provision of monthly grocery ration packs
- 12,512 lives potentially saved through blood collection drives conducted across the towns and cities across Fiji
- 10,176 children given free heart screening at the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Heart Screening Centre & through outreach free heart screening in rural Fiji
- 6,501 residents of rural Fiji given free general & specialist medical and dental consultations and free medication
- 200+ 1 children in orphanages and institutions regularly served through the Foundation’s healthcare, educare and sociocare initiatives
